WELCOME TO SHEPHERD OF
THE HILLS LUTHERAN CHURCH

You Are Most Welcome Here!

We invite you to come and be a part of God’s unfolding work among and through us!

Located on a hillside above the Columbia River, we are a welcoming community centered in worship.  We are shaped by liturgy and renewed by God’s creative word.  We celebrate the life-giving waters of baptism and share Christ’s holy meal where, week after week, all are invited and all are fed.

We gather to pray, sing, study, quilt, hike, read, crochet, laugh and offer mutual consolation.  We prepare meals and extend compassion to neighbors near and far.  In response to God’s call, we seek to love this world, which is so loved by God.

Land Acknowledgment

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church acknowledges that we gather on the unceded land of the: Cascades, Chinook, Cowlitz, Grand Ronde, Hood Rivers, Nez Perce, Tumwater, Umatilla, Wahclellahs, Wapato, Warm Springs, Wasco, Watlala, and Yakama peoples and tribes, among others, who have lived on, traded on, and called this land home to this day.

The people of these sovereign nations have a vibrant, living culture, and run contemporary governments. We recognize and honor their past, present, and futures as well as their abiding relationship to these precious lands. We may not know it now, or remember today, but the rivers, communities, and mountains around us carry the original names of these peoples and their spirits.  Most, if not all of us, are visitors and guests on these lands.

Together, we honor and continue to walk alongside our Native siblings as we work towards truth, reconciliation, justice, and healing.

All are welcome

We welcome all because God welcomes all regardless of race, culture, age, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or relationship status. In this welcome, we include all people without regard to addictions, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, or anything that too often divides us. Our unity is in Christ.

At Shepherd of the Hills, we believe that all existence is a gift of God’s love and grace, and we believe that we are here to see with the eyes and heart of God.

In this house of worship, you are welcome, you are home.

Shepherd of the Hills is a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
